Mid City Civic Theatre invites you to audition for a one-night-only staged reading of Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really by Kate Hamill, to be performed Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Auditions: Saturday, October 10, beginning at 5 p.m.
Callbacks: Sunday, October 11, if needed.
Location: Mid City Civic Theatre
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No prepared monologue is required. All those auditioning must be over the age of 18 at the time of auditions.
Important Dates
Rehearsals: October 12–25, 2026.
Tech/Dress: Friday, October 23, with an additional rehearsal Sunday, October 25, at 2 p.m., if needed.
One-night-only staged reading: Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Cast Needs
Doctor Van Helsing: 40s+. American. A female vampire hunter who takes no crap from anybody. Fearless and formidable in a world of 19th-century men who do not appreciate it.
Mina Harker: 20s–30s. Smart, caring, and loyal. Wants to do the right thing.
Lucy Westenra: 20s–30s. Bright, funny, vivacious, playful, and mischievous.
Marilla: 20s–30s. A vampire. More animal than human.
Drusilla: 20s–30s. A vampire. More animal than human.
Merchant: A merchant looking to make a sale.
Renfield: Any age within audition eligibility. A madwoman who worships Dracula and believes earning his approval will set her free.
Dracula: Late 30s–late 50s. Physically imposing, extremely confident, strong, funny, charming, and sexy.
Jonathan Harker: 20s–40s. A kind, truly decent man. A lawyer and man of letters. Slight, somewhat fussy, and delicate.
Doctor George Seward: 30s–40s. The head physician of a lunatic asylum.
